Kickstart Scheme Success from MKC Training
We are excited for you to watch the video premier of our Kickstart Scheme success.
Filmed, produced, and edited by our very own Kickstarter's!
When asked to produce a company video on MKC’s experience with the Kickstart Scheme, our Kickstarter's could not wait to get stuck in!
They are extremely passionate about this scheme and are eager to spread the word of its success, as are we. That’s why we thought, what better way to spread the positive word than by having the whole project filmed, produced, and edited by our very own Kickstarter's.
So here it is, enjoy!
Some MKC Kickstart Statistics
MKC Training is proud to have supported the Kickstart Scheme through the Covid pandemic, and beyond. We took on 14 young people onto six-months work placements in all areas of MKC Training including ICT Administration, Media Support, Electrical Workshop, Mechanical Services, Project Support and more. You can learn more from our Project Support, Elysia, on her own experience here.
We wanted to help young people gain on-the-job experience, develop their confidence and, support their journey into permanent roles as they progress – we are excited to announce we still have 8 people with us in permanent positions!
About the Kickstart Scheme
The Kickstart Scheme was a government initiative introduced in September 2020 to provide funding to employers offering new jobs to young people aged 16-24 and receiving Universal Credit.
The Kickstart programme has been amazing, and I would 100% use it again if I needed to.
The scheme ensured job roles were a minimum of 25 hours per week for six months and employers were to pay the National Minimum wage or National Living Wage or above. Kickstart placements also provided the security of basic training and support from their employer to help find future roles, alongside help with writing CVs to assist with future employability.
I have had the best support from my line manager and his team. I truly believe this is the best scheme out there for people like me and many others who are scared, worried or lack in confidence because it really helps!
We are in the process of producing a case study with more information on the scheme’s success, with first-hand experience from our Kickstarter's, and lots of insights from the Department of Work and Pensions, and the local Medway Council, so you can see what a positive impact the Kickstart Scheme had on the local community.
Come back soon to find a link to the case study here.
In the meantime, why not check out our previous blog on a day trip we held for our Kickstarter's earlier this year.
Looking for Job Opportunities
After the Kickstart Scheme came the Way to Work Scheme which has now also ended. But, here is the link to the Department of Work and Pensions Job Centre for you to keep an eye out for news of future schemes that might come up.
Finally, if watching this video has made you want to work here at MKC Training, we are always recruiting new staff for various new roles. Check back to our working for us page regularly to see if there's a role for you.
Filmed, produced, and edited by our very own Kickstarters!
