CCN1 Core Domestic Gas Safety

Aims of the Course and Target Audience

This course is an obligatory requirement if you’re involved in the installation, maintenance and servicing of domestic gas Appliances and Pipework Installations.

Its purpose is to provide you with the knowledge and skills from the safety regulations, procedures and British Standards which must be applied when working on gas installations.

Course Content

This gas safety course includes:

  • Gas safety regulations, British Standards and manufacturers' instructions
  • Emergency procedures, labels and warning notices
  • Unsafe situations and related documentation
  • Combustion, gas rates, burner/installation pressures
  • Testing for tightness, purging and relighting appliances
  • Pipework and fittings
  • Operation of appliance gas safety devices and controls
  • Ventilation
  • Flueing standards, installation and testing


Theory and practical.


Written and practical.

Homework / Private Study Required


Pre-Course Preparation

Familiarisation with current regulations.

Equipment Needed

Coveralls, safety boots.

Equipment Provided

Training material.

Health and Safety Guidance / Advice

Personal protective equipment will be provided except for safety boots and coveralls.

N.B. All participants will need to provide photographic ID and National Insurance No.
