Management of Risk (M_o_R®4)

What is the Management of Risk (M_o_R®) qualification?

Management of Risk (M_o_R®) is designed to help organisations establish an effective framework for risk management, enabling them to make informed decisions about the risks that affect their strategic, portfolio, programme, project, product, and operational objectives. It provides practical guidance for managing risk, showing how risk links to opportunity and the realisation of benefits. M_o_R® 4 is universally applicable and aligned to ISO standards.

Risk is defined, in M_o_R® 4 as: an uncertain event or set of events, that should it occur, will have an effect on the achievement of objectives. All decisions within organisations, at strategic, portfolio, programme, project, product, and operational levels, are made in the context of risk. When faced with alternative options of how to progress to achieve objectives, decision-makers need to find ways of considering what is known and what is yet uncertain and how it would have an impact on objectives should the uncertainty become a reality.

M_o_R® 4 is the latest edition of Management of Risk – a must-have certification for roles where managing risk is inherent, including portfolio, programme, project, business change and risk management professionals. It has a specific relevance for individuals working in product focussed environments / roles, offering a compelling integrated solution for the unique challenges faced by modern, digital-first organisations. It has been developed for candidates and practitioners who are interested in understanding how risk links to opportunity and the delivery of benefits, and in communicating or cascading this to stakeholders.

M_o_R® 4 enables certified professionals to deliver value to their employers and organisations in addition to enhancing their own career development. It includes valuable fictional case studies which illustrate how the guidance works in practice and can be tailored and applied across different sectors and organisations, irrespective of their operating model.

    Joe, APM PMQ course

    Anon, PRINCE2 Agile course
  • "The ideas and techniques learned in the course has changed my vision towards project management. It taught me various methods which I can apply in my career. I managed to learn new aspects of management cycle which I was unaware of. The course was very useful to me."
    Pawan, PRINCE2 Agile course
  • "I thoroughly enjoyed the course and got a good deal of useful information from it. I have carried out projects throughout my career, and a few years ago took the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ), but carried out projects using my own methods. PRINCE2 is great in that it sets out a methodology for carrying out project management, and is the most widely recognised in the UK. Adding agile was the icing on the cake."
    Lara, PRINCE2 Agile
  • "Dhaliwal Narinder our trainer was excellent, adding insights from her vast experience to enhance our learning. We have tried Agile and Project Management separately, now i have the opportunity to try both again in my Faculty. Receiving this course online whilst locked down was perfect."
    Kevin, PRINCE2 Agile course
  • "The course was interesting and interactive, though a lot of information needed to be crammed in and consumed. Having done an Agile course a few years ago, this course helped to reinforce what was previously learned and put a project management theme to it. The instructor was very knowledgeable and explained the theory very well. The other participants were engaging and helped make the course interesting through the sharing of question and answer sessions to the relationship of past experiences."
    Ted, PRINCE2 Agile course
  • Experienced and well qualified training staff provide excellent support and are committed to improving trainees' experience.
  • "The pass rate is delivering more competent well-rounded, 'turn their hand to anything' engineers. All of the main courses delivered by MKC achieve notably higher success rates than the corresponding courses delivered by either Further Education (FE) or private training providers'."
    KPMG
  • MKC is seen to be strongly in line with acknowledged approaches to good practice in vocational education and training.
Dr A Lahiff University College London Institute of Education (IoE)
