Since 2009 we’ve brought trust and progress to the UK Ministry of Defence’s Public Private Partnership (PPP) to transform and deliver training for the Royal Engineers. We provide high-quality teaching, and evolve course content and delivery to meet both learners’ and the British Armed Forces’ changing operational needs.
Today we’re also collaborating with wider organisations as training mission partners to identify capability gaps and create impactful solutions – fast and at scale. We deploy advanced technology to yield better insights and learning, and integrate specialist ecosystem partners to deliver new capabilities. All to create better, faster results where it really matters.
Through the Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME) in Kent, we’re training up to 2,000 Royal Engineers personnel a year from level 2 trainees to MSc level. As a Centre of Excellence for MOD training, our dedicated team of 250+ staff has a military ethos and is adept in training all generations.
MKC Training is a wholly owned subsidiary of MidKent College located in Kent, and we were formed in 2009 to deliver the RSME training. We're proud to return all our profits to the college to support the continuous delivery of vital educational and community projects.
We’re proud to have been awarded multiple accolades over the years for the quality of our training, and more.
We get learners operationally ready – whoever they are, and whatever the mission.
By collaborating closely with our clients, we see the same patterns emerging in training across sectors – a need for change, wider adoption of technology, faster and more agile learning. We’re able to apply everything we’ve learned in military training to the civil service, medical fields and beyond – turning innovation into deployable capability.
We design training content around the contexts that learners will face – which is very likely to be high-pressure and high-stakes. That helps learners gain deeply embedded skills that they can deploy in any situation.
The way we design training helps accelerate learning effectiveness too. Whether that’s through innovative solutions that we develop using immersive technology, or simply adapting teaching styles, we shorten time to readiness.
We shape our teaching around learners' success[HW7.1], so we provide additional learning support for those that need it. This avoids lost and productive time by having to re-trade learners, for example.
We also developed an approach to enable learners to complete at their level of competence – FMVT (Fixed Mastery, Variable Timing). This means that learners with more prior experience can complete their training and get back in the field faster.
We’re constantly exploring innovative methodologies and technology like AR and AI to add value by increasing the reach and accessibility of our training, and developing learning faster and at a lower cost. We also evolve delivery formats and teaching styles according to learners’ need – for example, bite-size learning for social media-native Gen Alpha trainees.
We are a trusted partner for the MOD delivering proof of concepts, and we have an in-house design team of 25 people as well as a much broader ecosystem of SQEP associates that we collaborate with.
Our RSME work has delivered:
MKC Training was founded in 2009 to support the delivery of a 30-year training modernisation and management contract as part of a PPP for the Royal Engineers. Today, our team of 250+ serves clients in defence, parapublic, and adjacent sectors with innovative training solutions.
What we do is all about helping people fulfil their potential, and that applies our employees as well as the personnel we train. We all share a military ethos of supporting each other in our mission, but we’re a surprisingly diverse mix of talent.
We have deep and long-established roots in the South East of England, so we’re an active member in our local area. We also support the wider Armed Forces community, and help our employees invest time in causes they want to support.
With our end-to-end approach, we can help you respond to evolving training needs and accelerate readiness.
We create immersive solutions to safely and measurably train personnel for challenging, high-stakes scenarios.
Almost every organisation has skills procedural gaps they may not know about. We can identify and resolve them.
Whatever the situation you need to deal with, we can find a way. Conversation is always the starting point. So let’s talk.
