What is the SMSTS-R Course?
The CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme – Refresher (SMSTS-R) provides an understanding of environmental issues, safety, health and welfare on construction sites. It covers all relevant legislation affecting safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. This course enables site managers to implement the necessary control measures and safety systems to ensure the safety of construction sites.

CITB Examination Structure
Assessment during the course involves ongoing evaluation by the instructor through individual participation and exercises. There will also be a 30-minute, 25-question objective multiple-choice exam at the end of the course.

Accreditation / Qualification(s) offered
The course is part of the Construction Industry Training Board's (CITB) Site Safety Plus scheme. The CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme certificate will be awarded on successful completion of this course (valid for 5 years).

There are no formal entry requirements, however, delegates should hold, or be about to hold, the role of a site manager. Previous health and safety knowledge is recommended. Those without previous health and safety management experience are recommended to sit the two-day SSSTS course.
