Hosting WorldSkills Regional Heats

MKC Training (MKC) are proud to announce our partner the Royal School of Military Engineering’s (RSME) involvement in the prestigious WorldSkills Competition.

The WorldSkills Competition is held every 2 years and is the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event in the world, it could be classed as the Olympics of apprenticeships. The UK version is held annually beginning with localised regional competitions followed by regional finals. For those that are successful in the regional heats, the UK finals are held at the NEC, Birmingham 21 – 23 Nov 19. For a select few there is also the possibility of representing Great Britain in the world finals.

The RSME have entered students in welding, plumbing, electrics, bricklaying and carpentry. Last year 6 students were entered and this year there are even more. We even have one of our staff members acting as a judge in the electrician field!

We pleased to announce we are holding the regional heats with RSME here on site. On June 5th the RSME will be hosting the regional competition in our joint facilities, we have been chosen because of the quality and amount of equipment we have in our workshops.

The competition is part of the military’s support towards the government drive for encouraging young people into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects through engagement. We are very excited to show that RSME trainees, trained by MKC, will be showcasing their talents and we look forward to welcoming the competitors.
